Prof Ujam, Dean of General Studies, UNN, Kidnapped

Prof Oguejiofor Ujam, the dean, School of General Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has been kidnapped.

Ujam, a professor of the Department of Industrial Chemistry, was kidnapped on Sunday along Ugwuogo-Opi-Nsukka Road.

Neither the authorities of UNN nor the state police command have made any official statement on the development, but a source at UNN confirmed the development.

He stated that, “Yes, he was kidnapped yesterday. Our prayers and good thoughts are for his immediate release.”

A Facebook influencer, Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, broke the news on his page. He wrote, “Prof Oguejiofo T. Ujam was kidnapped yesterday morning along Ugwuogo-Nike-Opi-Nsukka road.

“He is a lecturer at the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, and Dean, School of General Studies University Of Nigeria Nsukka. Our prayers are needed for his safe return to us, unharmed.”

Recall that a senior officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, identified as Emeason Chima, was kidnapped along the same axis. Chima is attached to RS4.211 Ugbokolo unit of the agency.

It was reported that the kidnappers had demanded N50 million ransom the officer.
