A forty-nine old man has been shot and set ablaze at Ngbo in Oha Ukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, our reporter gathered.
The man whose name was given as Mike Nnaji and a native of Amuri in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State was allegedly attacked by two gunmen.
A member of the family of the deceased, who preferred anonymity, said those who killed the man were masked.
They rode into their compound in the night and rushed into their parlour where they opened fire on the man, the source said.
After the shooting, they poured fuel on him and set the body and the building ablaze, the source added.
It was gathered that the attackers almost dragged another member of the family into the raging fire but eventually fled the scene when she resisted them.
There is no reaction from Ebonyi State Command yet as the police public relations officer in the state, Mr Joshua Ukandu, did not respond to calls placed on his phone line.
