The Anambra State Police Command has vowed to arrest those behind the killing of four vigilante members in the state.
The attackers had in the morning of Monday killed the four operatives at Ekeagu Abatete and Ukpo junction, respectively. It was gathered that two other vigilantes were seriously wounded by the same gang.
The state police command stated this in a release by its spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu. The state Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, in the release, said the command “shall fish out the criminals”.
Ikenga stated that, “The armed men today, 18/11/2024, unprovoked, by 8:45am operating in unregistered Lexus 330 SUV and Honda FJ Cruiser SUV at Ekeagu, Abatete, murdered three members of the vigilantes and injured another unsuspecting member of the public.
“Also at Ukpo junction, Dunkunofia LGA while escaping a hot chase by the Police Responding Team, they shot and killed another member of the vigilante, injured another and set two vehicles ablaze.”
Ikenga said the bodies of the deceased had been recovered and the injured are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
He stated that, “The CP condoles with the family, friends and community of the deceased and states that the police shall leave no stone unturned until those behind the barbaric act are arrested and justice served.”
