The Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, Tuesday, urged the public to disregard the news circulating across the country that the Ebubeagu security outfit carried out the killing of fourteen youths in the state on Sunday.
The governor stated this during the state executive weekly meetings held in Owerri.
There was a report of fourteen youths that were massacred while coming back from a traditional wedding in the state on Sunday evening.
According to the governor, “The act was carried out by the officials of the DSS not Ebubeagu, the local security outfit.”
People have accused the local security Ebubeagu as the people behind the act and justified it by calling them bandits
But the governor, while briefing journalists in Owerri, said, “Ebubeagu don’t know anything about it.
“It is the DSS after intelligence reports that discovered the bandits’ hideout and carried out the attack.”
He said that the state government would not succumb to campaign of calumny and blackmail in the course of ridding off social miscreants in the state.
In his words, “All the youths that were killed were criminals that were truncating the peace of the state.”
Why not DSS or government of Imo arrest the 14 youths, and have imprisoned, judge their case than killing them.
