Entrepreneurship and enterprise development remains the key to economic prosperity and stability.
Cashew processing and marketing is one such enterprise that is helping many citizens earn a living and take care of their families.
In Nigeria, cashew nut business is a multi-billion Nlnaira enterprise. The nuts are exported to Europe and the Americas. Hitherto foreigners have been doing the business and smiling to the banks. Even at that they are not adding value through processing and packaging which helps to provide employment to citizens.
In Enugu State, Sussy Foods and Agro Allied Industries Limited is making waves processing, packaging and marketing cashew nuts.
According to the managing director, Mr Obinna Ijere, “We process, package and market cashew nuts. The nuts that break into pieces are used for producing cashew butter.”
He said the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) had been supportive to his company. At the moment the business has engaged about 40 workers.
With a factory in Enugu, production plant at Obollo-Afor and a sales office in Abuja the enterprise is reaping the fruits of their labour.
The business is good and contributes to the gross domestic product of the country while providing exports to other countries and earning forex.
Indeed Sussy Foods and Agro- Allied Industries Limited has come to stay.
