Emeka Ugwuaro, the executive secretary, Rangers Management Board, Thursday, apologised to the fans of the Enugu-based club for their inability to win a continental ticket in the just-concluded football season.
Ugwuaroh said the state government does not owe the Flying Antelopes (as Rangers are called) any allowance, and commended Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his strides in returning the club to their former glories.
Ugwuaroh told Prime Sports that the club would strive to win this year’s FA Cup as a parting shot to Gov Ugwuanyi.
He said Rangers played their home games at the FC Ifeanyi Uba Stadium, Nnewi, to enable repairs at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, to be completed.
Quoting him, “Our intention to move the home field of Rangers to Nnewi is to give Rangers a befitting pitch so they can play the kind of game they are used to.
“Very soon, the imported materials for the turf will arrive, and you will see an utra-modern pitch.
“We thank fans at FC Ifeanyi Uba Stadium for their support. It was a home from home. We also played in Awka, and we also thank the fans over there.”
He said the possibility of relocating the team to the newly renovated Nsukka Township Stadium would be decided by the management.
According to him, Rangers’ technical director, Chairman Christian Chukwu, and his team are doing everything possible to make Rangers become the best by next season.
