Insecurity: Impeach President Buhari, Ortom Tells Lawmakers

By Adadainfo

The governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom, Friday, declared his support to moves to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari due to his inability to secure the country.

Recall that the PDP lawmakers in the National Assembly Tuesday issued a six-week ultimatum to Buhari to step up the fight against insecurity or risk being impeached.

The PDP lawmakers were led by Senate minority leader Philip Aduda. They had walked out of plenary to protest the insecurity in Nigeria.

Governor Ortom stated this at the Benue State Governor’s Lodge, Abuja, when a delegation of some members of the National Assembly led by Senator Aduda visited him.

He said the decision of both the Senate and the House of Representatives to impeach the president was ‘patriotic’. He also commended some members of the All Progressives Congress who have opted to do the ‘right thing’.

According to him, President Buhari had performed below the expectations of Nigerians in solving both the security and economic challenges of the country.

Senator Aduda told Governor Ortom that as a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the North Central, the delegation came to brief him on the decision of the National Assembly to impeach the president.
