The terrorist group, Islamic State of West Africa Province, has freed another five of the kidnapped passengers following the March 28 train attack.
One of the five was the one shot by the terrorists weeks ago.
This is the fourth time the terrorists have released the train attack hostages, reducing the number from an initial 63 hostages after the attack to 39 now.
Those released are Prof Dr. Mustapha Umar Imam, the medical doctor from Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital, UDUS, Sokoto; Akibu Lawal,
Abubakar Ahmed Rufai, Mukthar Shu’aibu Sidi and Aminu Sharif.
Mal Tukur Mamu (Dan-Iyan FIKA) and publisher Desert Herald who voluntarily engaged in negotiating the release of the train victims but backed out due to threats to his life, personal integrity and lack of support from the Federal Government confirmed the release of 5 the additional victims of the AK9 Train attack.
Mamu said all the 5 released victims were in his office on Tuesday afternoon immediately after their released to thank him for his past efforts.
It would be recalled that about 63 passengers were kidnapped during the attack were 9 persons were killed and their have continued to release them in batches beginning with the release of the managing director Bank of Agriculture, followed by another set of 11, then 7 before this set of 5 which now makes it a total of 24 of the passengers released so far leaving about 30 others still in captivity.
Before the release of the 7 passengers where it was alleged that the sum of eight hundred million was paid as ransom, the Terrorists released a video where the abducted Passangers were been tortured.
In the said video, the terrorists also boasted that they would destroy the country, kill the remaining passengers in their custody and sell out the others.
One of the terrorists threatened that unless the government comply with their demands, they would turn the area into an abattoir and also vowed to abduct President Muhammadu Buhari, Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai and other prominent Nigerians and destabilise the country if their demands were not met.
The terrorists also threatened to kill and sell off some of the remaining Kaduna-Abuja train passengers in their custody.
