Former president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Sunday, said his concern in 2023 is a president who has the Nigerian agenda. According to him, he has no preferred candidate.
Obasanjo’s meeting with Labour Party’s presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi in the United States elicited insinuations that Mr Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, has been favoured my Obj.
Obasanjo made his stance open when he visited former military head of state Gen Abdulsalam Abubakar in Minna on Sunday.
According to Obasanjo, “I don’t have a special candidate as far as 2023 presidential election is concerned.
“I have come to see my brother who was a bit indisposed. When he was abroad, I wanted to visit him. The day I arrived in London to visit him was the day he left.
“I said, well, since I could not see him in London, I will come to see him in Nigeria. And so, that is what I have come to do.
“He is special in a way. He was indisposed, so I had to come to see him. If there is anybody again who is special and indisposed that I have to see, I will see him. I am still strong enough.”
Our correspondent reports that Obasanjo also visited former military president Ibrahim Babangida at his Minna resÃdence after interracting with Gen Abubakar.
Hitherto, Obasanjo had held talks with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Ahmed Bola Tinubu, at his Otta Farm.
