The special counsel to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Barr Aloy Ejimakor, Monday, reacted to the release of Mama Biafra after about three months in detention by the Department of the State Services.
Kanu is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, which is agitating for the actualisation of the defunct republic in line with the global human rights laws.
According to Ejimakor, “It was unjust to have detained #MamaBiafra because it’s never a crime to desire a separate country. Let her freedom herald the freedom of all. Iseee!”
Adadainfo reported that Mama Biafran, whose real name is Ukamaka Ejezie, is 80-years-old.
Kanu’s other lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had on Sunday said with the release of Mama Biafran, the freedom of other detained persons with regards to IPOB, would soon regain their freedom.
Ejiofor said, “We are not relenting; every prisoner of conscience, including our indefatigable client, Nnamdi Kanu, will soon regain their freedom.
“We, in the legal team, are doing everything legally permissible to make it happen, we are not resting on our oars at all, be assured.”
Recall that the 80-year-old was allegedly arrested during Nnamdi Kanu’s court appearance at the Federal High Court, Abuja on May 18.
