Those Seeking Agballa’s Removal Are ‘APC’s Malignant Political Problems In Enugu State’ – Okafor

Those seeking to remove Barr Ugo Agballa as the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State are ‘malignant problems of APC’ in the state.

Chief Ebubeagu Okafor, a chieftain of the APC, stated this in Enugu Wednesday on ‘Political Voices’, a programme of the Dream 92.5 FM.

He described appeals by some politicians in the state to remove Barr Agballa as counter-productive, adding that Agballa is ‘a grassroots mobiliser’.

Recall that Chief Gbazuagu, Senator Nnamani, and the minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama met with the APC National Working Committee where they made a case for the removal of Agballa to save the party from total collapse in the state.

Okafor said such actions had made APC unable to win any single election in the state. According to him, in 2019, the bigwigs of APC in the state shared ‘money meant to prosecute the election’, making the APC unable to win any seat. He called for reconciliations between the factions of Ugo Agballa and erstwhile state chairman in the state, Barr Ben Nwoye, to bring everlasting peace in the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Okafor said contrary to the alleged suspension of Barr Agballa at his electoral ward in Udi, ‘Barr Agballa remains a fully registered member of APC’.

He regretted that those behind such moves do not attend APC meetings in their respective wards.

Gbazuagu, Nnamani, and Onyeama had told APC’s NWC to save the party in Enugu from collapse by removing Agballa from office.

Quoting them, “The party is imploding and on the brink of collapse. It is in no position, as things stand, to be competitive in the general elections.

“The leaders now believe that a radical solution is required to save the state chapter of APC from total collapse and disgrace.”
