The transition chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Lady Amaka Obi, has called on the executive governor of the state, Prof Charles Soludo, to use his good offices as the chief security officer of the state to ensure that more checkpoints are provided in the state, especially in Idemili South council area, to mitigate against cases of insecurity across the state.
The council boss made the plea recently during the flag-off of rehabilitation of failed carriageways and embarkment of Mmili John section of Oba-Ojoto road, and dredging of Mmili John River in Ojoto, Idemili South LGA.
“Considering the recent developments across the state, one will agree with me that we need security in our communities more than ever before.
“Recently, many dead bodies are found at the Ideani-Nnobi end of the Idemili River. This is besides cases of kidnaping and other forms of insecurity. The perpetrators are not yet known, and drastic measures have to be put in place.
“If more checkpoints are put in all these spots, it will help checkmate these terror cases, and Anambra will regain it’s pride of place as a very secured state,” she said.
The traditional ruler of Ojoto community, Igwe Gerald Mbamali, thanked Governor Soludo for awarding contracts for the dredging of Mmili John River, which he said, has claimed many lives, especially whenever the river overflows it’s banks.
In his response, Governor Soludo asked Ojoto community to partner the state government in the development and fight against insecurity.
The governor said the state will achieve lofty goals, if communities will collaborate with the state in relevant areas; especially security and infrastructural development.
