Barr Aloy Ejimakor, the special counsel to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Saturday, said there would be no sit-at-home when the suit by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on his alleged extraordinary rendition from Kenya to Nigeria last year will be heard.
Our correspondent reported that it would be heard at the Federal High Court, Umuahia, on Oct 4 2022. The case was instituted by Ejimakor.
Barr Ejimakor clarified the non-observance of the sit-at-home via his verified Twitter handle. According to him, “”Important Notice: On 4th October 2022 (TUESDAY), the Federal High Court, Umuahia, will hear Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Extraordinary Rendition suit.
“But there’s NO Sit-At-Home. None! Thank you!”
The suit is seeking the court to halt Kanu’s prosecution and to be restored to the status quo before he was rendition on 19th June, 2021, as well as the payment of N25bn as damages for myriads of human rights violations meted to him.
It would be recalled that IPOB had declared days Kanu’s case would be heard in court as sit-at-home, and cancelled the routine Monday’s sit-at-home. Despite the cancellation, however, Mondays are still observed as no-work in states in the South East.
Kanu is standing trial over alleged running of a proscribed group, jumping bail in 2017 and treason. His case is before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court of Abuja.
