Gully Erosion Destroys 50 Shops At Ogbaru Main Market In Anambra

The president general of Ogbaru Main Market in Anambra State, Chief Daniel Nwanodi, has called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to intervene in the menace of gully erosion sites around the market. According to him, the gully had destroyed no fewer than 50 lock-up shops.

The market leader told newsmen that quick interventions would save the market from losing more shops and business premises.

Quoting him, “Successive rainfalls have created gully erosion sites in some parts of our market, which in turn, destroyed many shops, and caused great losses to traders. We appeal to NEMA to resume work on the sites, and save traders from further losses.”

He also thanked some traders, who he said, donated100 solar electricity gadgets to the market, saying that it would help beef up security in the market.

In his words, “Security is not a one man’s business. All of us must join hands to make Ogbaru Main Market an exemplary market in Anambra State.”

He reminded the traders that his leadership is enforcing the ban on zero tolls for certain categories of petty traders, barrow pushers, among others, which was directed by Gov Charles Soludo recently.

He said the enforcement was in line with Governor Soludo’s directive, which aims at bringing sanity to markets in the state.
