Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina’s talisman Lionel Messi are both featuring at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Messi has said this will be his last outing. Ronaldo said he might play until he is 40.
Their mission respectively is to win the World Cup this time around. None hitherto won it ever, despite taking over the world football stage for over a decade.
The statistics show Ronaldo has more individual advantages. Messi has however played in the finals of the World Cup in 2014, but lost to Germany. Ronaldo never did.
The question this time is: how long do you think people will keep talking about Ronaldo’s problem with Manchester United? asks Brilafm boss Dr Larry Izamoje.
According to him, “Messi and Ronaldo are going to be playing alongside some decent players…How long do you think they’ll stay?
“Do you see Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the final of the world cup Ronaldo is 37, Messi is 35. Ronaldo with Portugal and Messi with Argentina.
Who will outlast the other in Qatar?
“Messi has said this is his last world cup. So, he goes to Qatar with his personal ambition.
“The fans have said in spite of Messi’s personal glory he is yet to win the world cup like Diego Maradona.
“Still hurting after everything that happened in Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo is in Qatar with Portugal. He goes to Qatar with his personal ambition – shame Manchester United.
“Coach Santos says Ronaldo is with the national team and he’s a different man when he’s with them.”
While Ronaldo currently has more goals overall, Messi has the edge in the scoring department, with a higher season average (37.9 to 35), having hit a high of 73 goals in 2011-12, though his average dropped after a disappointing maiden campaign at PSG in 2021-22.
