There is no way ‘your sit-at-home’ will bring Biafra, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie warned self-styled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mr Simon Ekpa, on Friday.
Ekpa, a Finland-based lawyer, had seared sit-at-home from Dec 9 to 14 this year ‘in preparation to boycott the 2023 elections’.
Edochie, through his verified Twitter handle, warned Ekpa the pattern he had adopted would destroy the same people he is claiming to be protecting their interests.
Edochie addressed Ekpa thus, “Dear Simon Ekpa, ‘sit at home’ will not bring Biafra. Suffering your own people will not bring Biafra.
“Nigeria wasn’t joined by Emeka or Chioma; Nigeria was joined by the British Govt for their own personal reasons, therefore, suffering your people to make a point is of no use.”
Edochie, however, advised Mr Ekpa on how to approach his goals.
Quoting him, “To achieve Biafra, we must find peaceful & diplomatic ways to make the world hear our voice.
“And it starts by preaching LOVE, PEACE & UNITY amongst Ndi Igbo. Using violence on your people will only bring division. And a divided house can never achieve anything meaningful.”
Following the arrest of Kanu in Kenya last July, Ekpa, a disciple of Kanu, was announced as an interim leader of IPOB. However, IPOB, through their head of media, Emma Powerful, announced Ekpa’s removal as IPOB leader. Ekpa has however been acting in that capacity since then.
