The Ohanaeze Youth Council, Friday, blamed some northern politicians for the recent attack on the campaign train of Mr Peter Obi in Katsina State.
Obi is the presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election.
Reacting to Obi’s attack in Katsina when he canvassed for votes, Comrad Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, Ohanaeze Youth Council’s national president, called for more political education of the youth to avoid a repeat.
He claimed, in a release made available to newsmen, that the attack was instigated by ‘some politicians in Kastina who deprive teenagers and youths basic education in order to keep them in perpetual slavery’.
He said, “It’s very ironical that those that attacked Peter Obi are those he has planned to lift out of poverty, both intellectual poverty and material poverty.
“The incident that happened to Peter Obi is an evidence of political brainwashing going on in some Northern states by selfish politicians.
“Most northern teenagers and youths are deliberately denied education by politicians in the North, with a view to keeping them as beggars while the same political leaders send their own children to the best schools in world.
“The attack on Peter Obi should throw every progressive-minded person in the North to reflect why illiteracy is more in the Northern Nigeria than Southern Nigeria even after being the most regions producing the most heads of state and presidents of Nigeria since 1960 of Nigeria’s Independence.”
