Police operatives collaborating with the staff of the Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare on 12/5/2023, by 5:45 pm at Nkpor by King of Glory road, rescued one Miss Idimmachikwu, 8, and arrested Mrs Chinyere Ifesinachi, 25, from Alor, Idemili South LGA of the Anambra.
Our correspondent gathered that the arrest followed a trending video/public outcry of the residents of the area.
Idimmachikwu was seen in the video inflicted with different degrees of injuries all over her body allegedly perpetuated by her guardian, Mrs Ifesinachi. The child is currently receiving treatment in a hospital, our reporter gathered.
The state police public relations officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest in a statement
According to him, “The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for comprehensive investigationd as directed by the commissioner of police, CP Echeng Echeng.
“The CP further frowned at such inhuman treatment subjected to some housemaids/help by their guardians, assuring that the command will continue to do everything within its power to protect the vulnerable of such.
“The case shall be charged to court on the conclusion of the investigation and justice shall be served.”
