The Enugu State government has reached an agreement with the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) for the upgrade of the state Medical Diagnostic Centre, Enugu, Adadareporters learnt.
The centre is a comprehensive diagnostic and oncology (cancer) treatment centre, according to the state health commissioner, Dr Emmanuel Ikechukwu Obi.
Dr Obi said the state Executive Council, sequel to the deal, had approved the evacuation of the existing equipment in the centre, as requested by the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority, to enable it to take over the health facility.
He said the executive council also approved that the evacuated equipment be put to good use at ESUT Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu and other hospitals in the state.
The health commissioner said the state government ‘sees a greater opportunity for more efficient services to its citizens and beyond through this collaboration’.
