Nothing confirms guilt like the attitude of the offender. Fear of exposure is an unwitting attitude of guilt expressed in words and actions. Supporters of HE Bola Ahmed Tinubu were all in cloud nine as news filtered from the PEPT on Tuesday, June 20. Their source of joy is the fact that INEC is clearly frustrating HE Peter Obi and Labour Party by denying them vital documents to prove INEC perpetrated treasonable fraud on February 25. Talk about the old order mentality where one ‘wins’ an election but scared of legal scrutiny!
A new Nigeria PO wants, and which majority of Nigerians eagerly hope for, is one where wrong remains wrong, whoever is involved. But BATists evidently wish that INEC continues withholding documents that should be public materials just to hide their crime. They are also very glad that the Tribunal justices are not doing enough to force INEC to respect rule of law by appropriately responding to subpoenas. They arrogantly express that PO should go and rest, wait for another time, withdraw his petition, etc.
The danger of organized crime is the influence on people, like present BATists, into conviction about wrong being right. The OBIdients I know would have gladly urged INEC to display every document used in the election on their website for easy and free access to any petitioner had they (INEC) rightfully declared PO the winner. And here lies the huge difference. One support base want a new Nigeria where the right things are done, the other want a country where impunity persists. Every day for the thief one day for justice. The hour is here!
