The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting at the Court of Appeal, Abuja, Wednesday, struck out the petition filed by the Allied Peoples Movement seeking to nullify the nomination of Mr Kashim Shettima as the vice presidential candidate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The legitimacy of Shettima’s candidacy in the February 25 2023 presidential election was challenged by APM on the grounds of double nomination.
APM’s petition, marked CA/PEPC/04/2023, sought the nullification of Tinubu’s election on the grounds of alleged double nomination of the vice-presidential candidate of the APC, Shettima. Tinubu contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The five-man panel of judges, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, ruled that APM lacked the locus standi to institute matters bothering on nomination and sponsorship of VP Shettima.
