A police officer attached to the Anambra State Police Command has been killed when his motorcycle collided with a shuttle bus.
Anthony Ogbodo, an assistant superintendent of police, died after the accident which occurred on Saturday, 16th September, 2023.
Our correspondent gathered that the driver of the shuttle bus conveyed the deceased to a hospital at Enugwu Ukwu for treatment, but he died in the process.
The state police public relations officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the death. According to him, “The driver has been arrested and taken into custody while the fatal accident is being investigated.
“This is to debunk insinuations on social media attributing the death of the officer to different causes. The command mourns the passage of the officer and wishes to condole his family and loved ones on his tragic demise.”
Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has assured that justice would be speedily dispensed in the case.
