The Enugu State Police Command, Thursday, confirmed the killing of some operatives of the command by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
The state police public relations officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the attack to Adadareporters.
He said, “It was an attack on policemen on stop and search duty this morning, along Agbani road, close to Enugu/Port-Harcourt Expressway, by yet-to-be identified hoodlums.
“However, details of the incident are still sketchy, while Command’s Tactical/Operational Operatives have been mobilized and are on the trail of the miscreants.
“Further development will be communicated.”
Further facts emerging from the incident claim that up to four police operatives were killed, while some others were wounded.
A branch of the United Bank for Africa around the area was also attacked, a source said. Adadareporters could not confirm the alleged attack in the bank.
