A Nigerian student in Canada, Mr. Innocent Tochukwu Agbo has raised the alarm about the closure of his bank account and seizeure of his properties in Nigeria on the allegation of his being a gay.
Trouble started when Innocent gained admission into a Canadian University in 2023 and in ecstacy chose to celebrate with his closest friend and secret guy partner, Mr. Francis Odinaka.
Report has it that Innocent and Francis had been secret gay partners and are both married. They share love that went beyond societal norms and were excited about Innocent embarking on this new chapter in Canada.
As the day of their departure approached, Francis organized a send-off party at his house for Innocent, hoping that Francis’ wife traveled for a Christmas celebration.
Little did Joy, the wife of Francis, know about Francis’s true identity. He had never explicitly revealed his sexual orientation to her, and she assumed Innocent was just a good friend of his husband Francis.
The night of the party, and the house was filled with laughter, music, and the joy of impending adventures when Francis wife arrived to meet unusual romance between Francis and Innocent.
The gay romance attracted Joy’s astonishment. She raised the alarm and subsequently reported the matter to the Nigeria police.
Innocent said he had to leave Nigeria in a hurry and arrived Canada on the third day of the new year.
“I was however surprised on getting to Canada to find out that I can no longer access my bank accounts, same thing as some of my properties in Nigeria, which I’ve been told were impounded by the Nigeria Police.
“I want to ask the Nigeria authorise to lift the embargo it placed on my bank account and properties. My personal lifestyle has absolutely nothing to do with the Nigeria police.
“The closure of my account has become a hindrance to my studies here in Canada and it’s creating difficulty to my future endeavours,” Innocent lamented.
