Heart Disease Prevention and Training Centre, Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria, is a comprehensive health agency that provides a myriad of specialised medical care, general medicine, research, training as well as nutritional services.
HDPTC, for short, was founded in 2021 by Prof Camillius Ezugwu, professor of medicine and cardiology, Johns Hopkins University, with the motto: “for a healthier nation”. It has a branch in Lagos, with plans to have another in Ghana being concluded.
The centre, accredited by the National Health Insurance Authority, has the state-of-the-arts facilities to give thousands of people in and around the university community of Nsukka quality health services rendered by dedicated and experienced professionals in a serene atmosphere, and at affordable prices, courtesy HDPTC NGO and NHIA accreditation.
HDPTC’s capacities include CT scan for heart, brain and other body parts, as well as management of high blood pressure, heart failure, chest pain, heart palpitation, arrhythmia, stroke, diabetes and syncope or fainting spells.
The centre also performs 2D Echo, ECG, X-ray, stress testing, blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring (RPM) and telemedicine. It also prevents, evaluates, and manages heart diseases and understanding specific risk factors of the condition.
Its laboratory unit is superbly equipped for accurate tests for Liver Function, full blood counts, T2, T3, T4, TSH, PSA, general chemistry etc.
HDPTC’s dedicated and experienced cardiologists are handy Mondays to Saturdays while it offers general medical consultations and treatment Mondays to Fridays.
Many people only require nutritional advice to live a healthy life. HPDTC provides nutritional sensitisation on how to eat for a healthy heart and general wellbeing.
For researchers, lovers of reading, including kids, HPDTC’s ultra-modern digital library is the answer. Student scholarships and health insurance assistance schemes are also provided. The centre is second to none in training or shadowing, as well as excursion opportunities for students.
