By Adadareporters

Keke and Okada operators have agreed to restrict their operations from 6pm to 6am in two local government areas of Enugu State.

The affected LGAs are Igbo Eze South and Igbo Eze North LGAs. The two LGAs have of late been experiencing criminal activities, including killing and burning of goods-laden trucks.

This resolution was contained in a joint statement by the unions, which was signed Comrade Benjamin Ikah, the state chairman, Association of Tricycle Riders’ Association, Enugu State, among other leaders of the associations in the affected areas.

The restriction takes effect from today, June 9, 2022.

Adadareporters gathered that recent criminal activities in the areas include the recent killing of two police operatives at Nkpamute, Igboeze North, and burning of a truck along Alor-Uno road by unknown gunmen some months ago.

A truck fully loaded with cement, belonging to BUA Cement Plc, was on Monday burnt by unknwon gunmen at a junction en route to Igbo Eze South LGA.

The concerned operators also directed their members to withdraw their services at Aguibeje and Iyionu communities in Igbo-Eze North LGA with effect from June 7, 2022, till further notice.

They therefore asked security agencies in the state to enforce the resolutions to the fullest.
