Mr Peter Obi’s emergence as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election is a masses’ project because he represents all that the Nigerian youths have been longing for, according to the Eastern Union.
Hon Charles Anike, the union’s national president, stated this Tuesday in Enugu in an interview with Adadareporters.
According to him, “Eastern Union has taken a stand and that is to support Peter Obi with everything we can afford. His chances of winning at the general election are very obvious because Nigerians are tired of lies from the old crooks.
“We encourage Nigerian citizens to see Peter Obi’s candidacy as the masses’ project that must not be toyed with. This is the time to change the music and retire the expired political class that have hitherto enslaved everyone of us. It is indeed time to end corruption and wickedness in Nigeria.”
He said the outcome of the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress was anti-South East.
Quoting him, “The outcome of the PDP and APC primaries did not come to us as a surprise, rather the outcome reaffirmed our earlier concerns that the North is not sincere and not willing to allow power to rotate to the South.
“When it was the time for the North to reciprocate the zoning structure, the PDP could not control their insatiable quest for power. The outcome of this resulted in the gang-up against the South-East.
“The APC was not in any way different, except that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu proved the strength of money in the Nigerian politics. That was why he was able to abort the coup plot of Buhari and his APC national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, who wanted to impose Sen Ahmed Lawal to maintain the Fulani leadership of the country.
“The position of the Eastern Union, therefore, is to seriously mobilize our people in the entire South-East, South-South zones and across the country to use our votes to make a strong statement.”
