Dr Doyin Okupe, erstwhile running mate of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has withdrawn.
Okupe hitherto said he was ‘standing in’ as Obi’s running mate ahead of the 2023 general elections. He tendered his withdrawal letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday.
He tweeted, “A replacement will be announced by the national chairman of the party (Labour Party) shortly. I feel greatly blessed to have been part of the foundation of success for the LP.”
His resignation paves the way for Mr Obi to formally announce his chosen one.
