Don’t Vote Politicians Whose Children Study Abroad, ASUU Tells Students

By Adadainfo

Nigerian students should not vote for political office-seekers whose children and wards are studying overseas.

This directive was given by the president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, Wednesday.

Our correspondent reported that the federal government-ASUU meeting hoped to find a truce over the over six months’ strike embarked upon by university lecturers yielded no positive results Wednesday as the FG team ended up begging ASUU to call off the strike on compassionate grounds.

ASUU president gave the order during a Twitter Space Webinar organised by Premium Times and tagged, ‘ASUU strike, Revitalisation Fund and the Way Forward.’

Osodeke said, “Anybody you believe cannot take care of your interests, whose children are busy studying abroad, who are living abroad, don’t vote for them.

“I repeat, you don’t need to vote for them, because you don’t vote for people who will take your life.”

Osodeke was responding to questions from one Rinu Oduala. He had asked Osodeke what Nigerian students could do in the face of the unending strike.
