North-Central Youths Want Tinubu To Drop Shettima

Over 200 youths, from the North-Central zone of the country, Friday, protested the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress’ candidate for the 2023 presisential election, Bola Tinubu.

The youths want Senator Tinubu to drop former Borno governor Kashim Shettima and choose a Christian to reflect the religious colours of Nigeria.

Their call is in consolidation of several other calls which condemned Tinubu’s choice for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

The youths, under the aegis of the North Central Progressives Youths, protested at the Unity Fountain and ended at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The bore placards with inscriptions like ‘APC presidential ticket must be for all faith’, ‘Shettima must go now’, ‘all Christians say no to Islamisation of APC presidential ticket’, ‘Tinubu and Shettima must do the needful’, ‘it is our constitutional right’, and ‘Don’t destroy the unity of Nigeria’.

The leader of the youths, Musa Attah, described Tinubu as a ‘man loved and adored by Nigerians’.

According to him, Tinubu’s low-level ahead of the elections in 2023 is his running mate.

He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to make Tinubu replace Shettima with a Christian VP.

Quoting Attah, “Mr President, on numerous occasions you have promised to bequeath a democratic system imbued with workable institutional structures that will stand the test of time. True to your words, the nation’s electoral system has been revolutionised.

“Your footprints will never be forgotten in the area of infrastructure. The fact that there’s still a country called Nigeria is due to your resilience despite the mirage of security challenges.

“We are also coping with the global economic crisis. Meanwhile, the trial of the suspended accountant-general of the federation and many others has proven your zero tolerance for corruption. There are no sacred cows.”
