Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Thursday, said he holds Nigerians in Diaspora in very high esteem.
He disclosed this on his verified Twitter handle on his way to the United States of America in furtherance of his consultations aimed at drumming support for his presidential campaign.
He wrote, “En route to the U.S.A, I’ll make a pit stop in Germany to interact with Nigerians in Germany.
“I hold Nigerians in Diaspora in very high esteem; they represent the core of our human development capital and contribute immensely to nation building via remittances and technical knowledge transfer.
“My present outing will take me to Germany, Italy, Canada and the U.S.A. I look forward to the very constructive engagements.”
Obi has been described as a counter-force in the 2023 general elections following his surging fame.
“He is coming from a neutral ground,” says Livinus Omeye, a political analyst. “His decision to contest is out his personal volition and conviction that Nigeria is finished if the goalpost isn’t shifted. He might be the unbelievable in 2023.”
