2023: Reactions Trail Kalu’s Pledge To Deliver South-East Votes To Tinubu

By Adadainfo

Reactions, Monday, trailed the reported pledge by the chief whip of the Senate, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, to deliver the votes of South-East electorate to Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election. Tinubu is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

The NATION quoted a source privy to what transpired between the two former governors saying, “Though the meeting was very brief, the two leaders had a heart-to-heart discussion with Senator Orji Uzor Kalu pledging to mobilise his people in the South-East region to support and vote the Tinubu/Shetimma ticket.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu promised to swing into action as soon as the campaign proper starts by the end of the month by combing all the nooks and crannies of the South-East region.”

Orji also confirmed his meeting with Tinubu on Sunday in a post. According to Kalu, “Shortly after celebrating Mass, I visited my brother and our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

“We discussed our party and the progress made so far. We are enthusiastically waiting for the campaign kick-off later this month.”

A political analyst based in Abuja, Moses Irogbe, said, “Igbo stakeholders should unite to support the presidential candidature of Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party in 2023. Such support shouldn’t be open to avoid being categorised as anti-party. That is the meaning of cultural consciousness. The North understands the politics better as demonstrated for Atiku by Tambuwal.

“If Kalu begins to mobilise for Tinubu with his clout, Obi’s stronghold will be threatened. Orji should act better.”

Charles Anike, the national president of the Eastern Union, said, “Day dreamer: Has he delivered his constituency to himself?”

For Meletus Ossai, “Ndigbo pride to be democrats. Orji is demonstrating the belief that the party is supreme. He supported Senate President Ahmad Lawan’s aspiration to fly the flag of the All Progressives Congress which Tinubu won. So Kalu is just a good party man.”

For Osita Okor, “Kalu can’t even deliver his ward. He will talk, and electorate will decide. He is simply showing party solidarity. Whether he likes it or not, we remain ‘Obidients’.”

Cele Eze, a businessman, wrote, “Is it Orji or Oji? Any name they call you pls, if you want to borrow money from Tinubu, don’t use our head. Enough of this BIKO.”
