5 Killed In Anambra Auto Crash

Five persons, comprising three males and two females, were Sunday killed in a fatal motor accident that occurred in Anambra State on Sunday, the state command of the Federal Road Safety Commission said.The accident involved a

n unidentified driver of a black Lexus RX330 with registration number KJA182HS and an unidentified driver of a red truck with no registration number.

The accident occurred along Enugu-Agidi expressway by Awka-Enugu road at about 1920hrs on Sunday.

The state sector public education officer of FRSC, Margaret Onobe, announced this Awka in a statement.

According to her, “The probable cause of the fatal crash was excessive speed. According to eyewitness reports, the truck driver was on speed, lost control and rammed into the Lexus SUV.”

She said the FRSC rescue team from RS5.3 Anambra Sector Command took the victims to AMAKU hospital where they were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, and the corpses were deposited at the hospital morgue.

The sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State, Adeoye Irelewuyi, sympathized with the family of the dead victims and sent his prayers for the repose of their souls.

He warned motorists, especially truck drivers to avoid over-speeding and ensure they keep to recommend speed limit.
