Professor Zainab Duke Abiola, the human rights lawyer that brutalised her police order for refusing to carry out domestic duties, married the late business mogul MKO Abiola.
Our correspondent gathered that she is Igbo, from Imo State. The authenticity of her professorship has not been ascertained as investigations, according to Force PRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, are ongoing.
Meanwhile, she has been remanded at the Suleja Correctional Facility in Niger State on the orders of the Chief Magistrates’ Court, Zone 6, Abuja. She is charged with an attempt to commit culpable homicide.
The inspector general of police, Mr Usman Alkali, had directed her prosecution following the torture of a police orderly attached to her by Mrs Abiola and her house helps. The inspector, Inspector Teju Moses, was molested on Tuesday because she refused to carry out domestic assignments which the Prof directed her to execute.
The police sued the legal practitioner and human right activist for offences partaining to criminal conspiracy and causing criminal hurt without provocation and breach of trust.
Her remand was announced by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command via its Twitter handle.
The case is adjourned to October 5 for the next hearing.
