Akwa-Ibom Pastor Arrested Over Illicit Drug Dealings

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested four persons over alleged 16,000 kilogrammes of illicit drugs in Lagos and Abuja.
NDLEA stated this in a release seen by our correspodent weekend.
A breakdown of the arrest shows that 48-year-old Aro Aderinde was arrested in Lagos on October 16. Aderinde had been on the watchlist of the anti-drug agency over his alleged involvement in the export of 3,149kgs cannabis sativa concealed in coconut fibres via container number MSKU 1820587.
Aside him, the duo of Hauwawu Bashiru and Basirat Yahaya, both females, were arrested and moved to Uyo to face charges over the export of 90 kilogrammes of methamphetamine through Pastor Anietie Okon Effiong of Promise of Zion Church, Oron, in Akwa Ibom State.
One Abdulkadir Mohammed, 47, a drug baron, who had been wanted over the seizure of 5,640kgs cannabis at a warehouse at Chukuku area of Kuje, Abuja, was also arrested on October 16. His arrest followed the arrest of his wife, Saadatu Abdullahi, 35, who was found at the store when it was raided.
Similarly, ten persons suspected in connection with the seizure of 4,870.2kgs of cannabis in parts of Edo State were arrested.
Brig Gen Mohammed Marwa (retired), chairman of NDLEA, commended his officers and men for their commitment, and warned those in the business to turn a new leaf or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
