Prove DPO’s N350k Bribe To Release Corpse, Police Tell Twitter Handler

The Twitter account holder of @princenenchecfr has been invited by the Anambra State Police Command to prove his post that the divisional police officer in-charge of Awka Central Police Station demanded N350k to release the corpse of someone killed during a cult war in Awka.

This was contained in a statement by the state police public relations officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Friday.

It would be recalled that on Saturday, 26/11/2022, there were rivalry cult shootings that took place in Awka, resulting in the death of an unidentified person.

The alleged report that the DPO demanded the said amount was posted via @princenenchecfr. The command has therefore called upon the poster to come prove his claims.

Our correspondent reports that three persons have been arrested in respect of the shooting they led to the killing of the deceased.

DSP Ikenga, in the statement, revealed that the said corpse is still in the morgue, adding that ‘it is not within the powers of the DPO to release corpses or to investigate murder cases’.

A part of the statement read, “The case has been transferred to the State CID for proper review and consolidation of information before us.

“The command also wants to use this medium to invite the Twitter handler *@princenenchecfr* to Anambra State Police Command by 11am on Wednesday 7/12/2022 to come with evidence and witnesses of persons when the DPO demanded the sum of three hundred and fifty thousand naira from him and later the corpse was released.

“This will enable us to come out with facts of what transpired.”
