Qatar World Cup: Ghana Join Tunisia In Crashing Out

West African side Black Stars of Ghana, Friday, crashed out of the ongoing World Cup in Qatar. Ghana exited the global stage after losing to Uruguay.

Before the clash, pundits said Ghana should use the game to revenge Luis Surez’s delibrate ball handle which denied Ghana’s progress to the semi-finals in a previous World Cup. Uruguay, like Ghana, left the pitch in tears as they too did not progress to the next stage.

Uruguay’s points were level with South Korea who scaled through on goal advantage in Group H. Portugal surprising were defeated 2-1 by South Korea.

Koreans defeated Cristiano Ronaldo’s side in a comeback when K. Young-gwon and Hee-chan helped them clinch a place in the round of 16.

Portugal led 1-0 in a early goal lead, scored by Horta in the fifth minute.

Ghana, on the other hand, were humbled two nil by Uruguay. Ghana had a three point advantage going into the game. Uruguay’s goals were scored by De Arrascaeta in the 26th and 32nd minutes.

Before then, Andrew Ayew lost a penalty in the 21st minute of the first half. Luis Surez left the pitch in tears.

Ghana join Tunisia in crashing out as Africa’s reprentatives. Africa’s hopes now focus on Morocco and Senegal.
