Two Killed In Anambra Auto Crash

Two persons were confirmed killed in a fatal road traffic crash that occurred Sunday at Nteje-Oyi bridge by Nteje-Otuocha road in Anambra State.

The accident involved Volkswagen/golf with registration number, AGU970JT; Daihstu/shuttle bus, with registration number, NSH521YJ, and Kumata motorcycle with no registration number.

According to RC Margaret B Onabe, acting sector public education officer, FRSC, Anambra State, the probable causes of the fatal crash are high speed and wrongful overtaken.

An eyewitness said the bike rider, who was ‘on very high speed overtook wrongfully, collided with the bus’, making ‘the bus to tumble, while also having impacts on the golf and crashed’.

According to her, eleven persons were involved in the crash comprising eight male adults and three female adults.

She said, “Three male adults sustained varying degrees of injury and two male adults were killed – a passenger in the bus and the bike rider.

“The crash victims were rushed to Chira Hospital, Awkuzu, by the FRSC rescue team from RS5.33 Nteje Unit Command where two male adults were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The dead victims were deposited at same hospital morgue.”
