One Killed, 6 Blind Persons Survive In Anambra Auto Crash

One person was killed Wednesday evening along Onitsha-Nteje-Awka expressway when a bus carrying 18 persons were involved in a solo accident.

It was gathered that the bus, with registration number GDD 488 XB, Mitsubishi/L300, had a tyre burst while on top speed, and crashed.

According to RC Margaret B Onabe,
Ag. sector public education officer, FRSC, Anambra State, 17 persons, comprising two male adults and 16 female adults, sustained varying degrees of injury, and one male adult was killed.

It was further gathered that six out of the injured victims are blind persons being conveyed to Oji River Special School in Enugu State.

She said, “The FRSC rescue team took six of the victims to Chira Hospital, Awkuzu, where one of them gave up while others are receiving treatment.

“The dead victim was deposited at same hospital morgue. The remaining 12 injured victims were taken to Awkuzu Medical Centre for medical attention.”

Meanwhile, the sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, condoled the family of the dead victims and wished the injured quick recovery.

He also warned motorists to desist from excessive speed, especially this festive period.
