Twelve suspected bandits have been killed in Bauchi State, the state police command said Monday.
Among the dead is their alleged kingpin, Madaki Mansur, said to be tormenting residents of Alkaleri local government area and neighbouring states of Taraba, Plateau and Gombe.
This was contained in a statement by the state police image-maker, SP Ahmed Wakili.
He stated that, “In our combined efforts to stem the menace of banditry in Bauchi State, especially in Alkaleri LGA, the command was at its best recently.”
He said on 19th December 2022, around 0230hrs, a joint operation of security operatives encountered some criminals at Mansur, Digare, Gwana and Dajin Malam in Alkaleri forest.
The hoodlums were said to have engaged the police operatives in gun duel, leading to the neutralisation of twelve of the bandits, with some of the them escaping with bullet wound.
Wakili said items recovered from them include weapons and operational motorcycles, adding that efforts were on to apprehend the feeling gang members.
