PDP Crisis: Analysts Blame Atiku, Wike, Defend Nnamani

By Adadainfo

Hon Nick Uzonsi, former chairman of Ezeagu LGA in Enugu State and public affairs analyst, Monday, said the suspension of Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, former governor of Enugu State, is constitutional but shouldn’t have been applied because the party itself does not adhere to its constitutional provisions.

Speaking on Dream FM’s ‘Political Voices’ monitored by our reporter in Enugu, the vocal analyst said, “Suspending Senator Nnamani is constitutional. But the PDP should do the first thing first. Before you ask somebody to obey, you should also obey what is in the party’s constitution.

“The G5-Governors are committing anti-party activities. Though it is constitutional to suspend them, but they shouldn’t be suspended. The five governors are right to say that the agreement should be adhered to.”

Dr Dele Maxwell Ugwuanyi, who was also on the programme, said the current problem ravaging the PDP is self-inflicted.

According to him, “PDP’s crisis is self-inflicted. You cannot completely exonerate Gov Wike of Rivers State. Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was the chairman of the PDP zoning committee. Instead of them to stand their ground and affirm that the zoning should go to the South, they deliberately didn’t until everybody who wanted to be president had obtained the form.

“They then threw it open on the alibi that you can’t throw open the sales of forms, and then disqualify the spirants. When Wike failed to get the presidential ticket, he made efforts again to become the VP. That is where the problem started.

“The internal contradiction here is that the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, is running on the mantra of a unifier. He is somebody who is appearing as a unifier, but can’t even unify his brothers.

“This issue happened in Cross River State. Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, begged them, and he was able to unify them. The same thing happened in Ogun State. They brought the factions together, and resolved their differences.

“But in PDP, Atiku allowed his ego to reign. He should have displayed how he intends to unify Nigeria at the macro level by uniting with the five governors. It is only a myopic person that says a governor has only one vote. It doesn’t work like that. Governors have many votes. They control a lot of things.

“The suspension of Nnamani is not constitutional. You are showing bias. What is anti-party? It is what the G-5 Governors are doing. Gov Bala Mohammed said Bauchi will vote the person President Muhammadu Buhari chooses. Atiku shouldn’t have sanctioned the suspension of Nnamani and others. It is only a mad man that makes enemy when elections are coming.”
