INEC Staff Arrested For Transacting PVCs In Enugu

Police detectives serving in the Criminal Investigation Department of the Enugu State Command, on 31/01/2023, arrested one Chinwendu Nnamani, 41, for allegedly selling permanent voters’ cards.

The suspect was captured in a viral social media video clip, charging unsuspecting citizens N1, 000 to collect their PVCs. She was arrested at Emene, Enugu.

Also arrested is one Nkiruka Patience Obinna, 38, identified as an INEC staff. Ms Obinna is alleged to have given the PVCs to the first suspect for distribution to the actual owners on charges.

According DSP Daniel Ndukwe, Enugu State Police Command’s public relations officer, investigations into the matter had been concluded, and the case charged to court ‘in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022’.

He stated that the suspects ‘had been arraigned accordingly, granted bail and the case adjourned to 15/02/2023 for further hearing’.
