The governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Enugu, Tuesday, quashed the petition filed by Chief Uchenna Nnaji seeking to disqualify Barr Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party, Governor Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Mr Frank Nweke jnr of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

Nnaji is the standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the election held on 18th March, 2023.

The tribunal dismissed Chief Nnaji’s petition on the ground that the pre-hearing notice filed by the petitioner was premature and ran foul of the 2022 Electoral Act.

Chief Nnaji had through his counsel petitioned the tribunal to disqualify Edeoga on the ground that he was not properly nominated to be the candidate of the Labour Party. Partaining to the APGA candidate, Nnaji claimed that Nweke was still a member of the PDP when he emerged APGA’s candidate.

The APC guber candidate also petitioned that Governor Mbah, among others, forged his Senior Secondary School Certificate.
