Prof Ogbulogo Emerges Pioneer VC Of Maduka University

Professor Charles Uzodimma Ogbulogo, of Covenant University, Otta, Ogun State, has been appointed the pioneer vice chancellor of Maduka University, Ekwegbe-Nsukka in Enugu State.

Maduka University, Nigeria’s foremost entrepreneurial university, is founded by Dr Samuel Maduka Onyishi, the chairman of Peace Group of Companies.

Dr Onyishi, in a release made available to newsmen, said Prof Ogbulogo’s appointment takes effect from July 1, 2023.

Dr Onyishi wrote, “Prof Ogbulogo has consistently displayed unwavering integrity and dedication to education. He has inspired countless individuals through his mentorship and guidance, serving as a positive influence and role model for many.”

It was gathered that Prof Ogbulogo was an assistant lecturer, Lecturer II, and senior lecturer at the University of Lagos from 1988 to 1998. He held various leadership positions, such as sub-dean of the Faculty of Arts; acting head of the Department of African and Asian Studies, and chairman of the Postgraduate Committee.

The statement added that the new VC ‘contributed significantly to the academic community through his involvement in the Postgraduate Board, Academic Programmes Committee, and Publications Committee’, adding that, “Maduka University is honored to have Professor Charles Uzodimma Ogbulogo join the institution as the VC. Under his visionary leadership, we are confident that the university will continue to flourish and provide an exceptional educational experience for our students.

“Prof Ogbulogo’s passion for learning and his dedication to excellence align perfectly with the core values of Maduka University.”

Maduka University earlier announced free tuition fees for its 2023/2024 academic session.

Dr Onyishi told our correspondent that, “There is no tuition fee on our fee schedule. We are giving free tuition to all our pioneering students. The fee for the university’s School of Business and Social Sciences is N338, 000. It has departments of accounting, economics, mass communication, international relations and fransport management.

“The fee for the School of Computing N378, 000. It has departments of information technology, computer science, cybersecurity and software engineering.

“The same amount applies for the School of Engineering, comprising departments of civil engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering and computer engineering.

“The university’s School of Health Sciences has the following fees structure: physiotherapy, ₦378,000;
medical laboratory science, ₦378,000; nursing science, ₦588,000, and
Pharmacy, ₦588,000. The fee for the School of Law is ₦588,000.”

Dr Onyishi said the school fees ‘are paid per session, that is yearly’, adding that “Maduka University also offers a pre-degree programme to facilitate the entry of prospective students who did not write the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The fees for the pre-degree programme are set at ₦300,000.”

Our correspondent gathered that in addition to the approved fees, accommodation charges for the 2023/2024 academic session amount to ₦105,000 yearly.
