Goodwill messages are being sent to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for quick recovery from his ailments following last week’s ruling of a Federal High Court, Abuja, granting his prayers to consult a medical doctor of his choice.
Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has been in the custody of the Department of the State Services since 2021 after his arrest and rendition to Nigeria from Kenya. Despite court orders for his release, federal government has declined to obey the orders.
While in detention, Nigerian security agencies did not allow him to consult his personal physicians, prompting his legal team to approach the court to enforce his right to see his preferred doctors. The prayers were granted by Justice Binta Nyako.
Kanu’s special counsel, Barr Aloy Ejimakor, stated that Kanu had received his first round of medication from his chosen medical doctor. Ejimakor stated this after his visit to Kanu on Monday.
He tweeted, “Despite all the travails, he remains upbeat & his best wishes for the faithful abide. He confirmed that the first round of his independent medicals has begun & that he looks forward to the next round.”
Rachael Nwosu, via her Twitter handle, prayed for Kanu’s quick recovery and his eventual freedom. She also commended Ejimakor’s doggedness towards Kanu’s eventual freedom.
According to her, “Thank God for this good news and thank God for you. Always standing with and for our leader. I hope that now our leader will get good medical treatment. It’s his basic right! I pray for more good news, till our leader will finally get his freedom. Isee isee iseee.”
Gideon Ihezie tweeted, “Despite all the injustices done to MNK by some Igbo brothers, he still stands for the freedom of his people. May all who have hands to keep you MNK where you’re today, may they receive double portions of what they have done to you, amen.”
Uche Ugwu wrote, “Chukwu Okeki Abiama has healed him. He will be stronger than all his enemies. Enemies of Biafrans are falling apart. They will surely fall and never stand up again forever.”
DJ Rozay prayed that, “God be with him always. It is He alone who called him to this that knows how to keep him; and He will continue to strengthen him always. May He never leave his side. Chukwu Okike Abiama pụrụ ime Ihe Nile keep him always.”
