By Adadareporters

Various shops at Ogige Market, Nsukka, did not open Monday morning despite the opening of the market for businesses by the management of the arena.

Our correspondent that visited the market observed that gates into the market were open, but various shops were closed.

Some men were seen asking anybody they see if they wanted to buy anything. One of them said, “Today is sit-at-home. When they release Kanu, we can be sure that sit-at-home has ended officially.”

Another young man, suspected to be a trader, said, “The truth is that buyers don’t come to buy. Most have taken Mondays to farm, clean environment and even enjoy themselves.”

Recall that the Enugu State government directed that businesses open on Mondays, describing sit-at-home orders as ‘waste of resources’. It also sealed shops of traders that complied with the order two weeks ago.
