Kidnappers Operating In Shuttle Bus Arrested In Anambra

Police operatives attached to Area Command headquarters, Onitsha, Anambra State, Wednesday, arrested kidnap suspects operating in a shuttle bus.

The state police public relations officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the victim was rescued by operatives during a patrol on 30th August 2023 at about 9.30pm, around Borromeo roundabout.

Quoting him, “The operatives professionally engaged the kidnappers in a shootout without harming the hostage who was rescued unhurt.

“Two suspects were arrested at the scene while others managed to escape with gunshot wounds.”

He disclosed that items recovered from them include one Barreta pistol, nine rounds of 9MM live ammunition, and a shuttle bus without number plates which the criminals used for the kidnap operation.

The state commissioner of police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, commended the operatives, and tasked them to intensify efforts to arrest the fleeing gang members.
