The Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal has sacked Sen Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial election.

The tribunal, in its ruling on Wednesday, declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan as the winner of the February senatorial election in Kogi Central.

Justice K. A. Orjiako, the chairman of the tribunal, read the unanimous judgment of the three-man panel.

According to him, Ohere’s results were inflated in nine polling units of Ajaokuta LGA. He added that Natasha’s votes were undercounted in the nine polling units where Ohere’s votes were inflated. Aside the identified nine polling units, the tribunal ruled that INEC deliberately did not enter results of three polling units

by the INEC, as well as 3 other polling units for Natasha. The tribunal therefore declare Natasha Akpoti- Uduagan (PDP) as winner of the poll, having polled 54,074 against Ohere (APC) who polled 51,291.

Natasha contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The state tribunal had Tuesday sacked the senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Jibrin Isah, on the ground that elections were cancelled in some 94 polling units on 25 February.

The tribunal also ordered Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election in the affected 94 polling units.

The judgement was sequel to the petition brought before it by Victor Adoji, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
