In compliance with the order of Judge Nancy Maldonado of the Northern District Court of Illinois, Chicago State University has released President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s academic records to former vice-president Atiku Abubakar’s US legal team.
The court had rejected Tinubu’s last minute efforts to stop the release of the records. Atiku, presidential candidate of the People Democratic Party, had sought the release of the documents to enable his proof that Tinubu, Nigeria’s president, paraded a forged degree to qualify to contest Nigeria’s presidential election of 2023. Tinubu is of the All Progressives Congress. His victory, as declared by Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission, is being challenged by Atiku and Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.
The release was disclosed by a former presidential spokesman and publisher of Point-blank news, Jackson Ude, via his official X handle.
According to him, “The documents are now in. Atiku Abubakar’s lawyers are now in possession of the academic records from Chicago State University.
“They are checking to make sure it is what has been demanded that were released before making them public. Hang on. You will all see them in a few [minutes]!”
