The senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche, has visited the collapsed church building in Makurdi.

The incident occurred at Mission Ward, North Bank. The church collapsed at about 2 a.m. on Tuesday when five pastors were carrying out midnight prayers and one of them died in the process.

Enenche regretted that the same church which was filled to capacity on Sunday for seven hours for prayers and worship could collapse at a time when five persons were inside praying, adding that there was every need to thank God for his miracle.

He said, “As a ministry we employ due diligence in our buildings and this we have done in several things we have done.

“We believe that going forward, we will look into more details, the procedures and everything including technical details, and we trust God this will be forestalled in the future.”

He described the late pastor as a dedicated servant of God who had served God dedicatedly all his life, adding that he would be missed by not only his immediate family, the church, but the entire state.

He prayed God to grant the immediate family, the branch and the entire Dunamis International Gospel Church the fortitude to bear the lost.

Meanwhile, Benue Gov Hyacinth Alia has slammed the leadership of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre for erecting a substandard structure.

He spoke when he visited the site. According to him, the building was poorly constructed and would be revoked.

Quoting him, “We have to locate where the leadership of the church is and to inform them that the land has been revoked because we have to save lives.

“Those living along the waterways would vacate immediately. So the Ministry of Works, Housing and Urban Development should step in. I need to know who approved this structure. We need to know the engineers or the architects who monitored this gigantic project. We need to stop these from happening.”
